Summer Fun With Plastic Balls

It is starting to majorly warm up here and we’ve got SUMMER on our minds so that means we are taking the FUN outdoors!

Today I wanted to share with you 3 ideas for using those ball pit balls that you might have lying around. Colored plastic balls are perfect for all kinds of kids activities and today we are going to use them along with a tub of WATER!

These ball pit ball water ideas are perfect for preschoolers and are great to add to your SUMMER fun list.

SPLASH AND TRANSFER
For this activity you’ll need to place all plastic balls in a large tub of water. Set out a chair for your child and a smaller container to transfer the balls to. Now for the challenge! The goal of this activity is for them to move all balls from the large water bin to the smaller bin BUT it must be done with their FEET – no hands! Yep, that’s right. This is an awesome gross motor activity, that takes a bit of concentration and coordination. My 4.5-year-old got the hang of it after the first few and even my 3-year-old was able to transfer a few, although it definitely took some dedication! We will definitely do this again!

SCOOP & TRANSFER
Now, this idea is very similar to the one above, but instead of transferring the balls from one container to another using their feet I gave my girls large spoons to use. They had to use the spoon to scoop and transfer all the balls. Such a great activity for crossing the midline and building hand-eye coordination.

COLOR RACE
The object of this activity is to practice identifying colors with speed. For this one set all balls in the big bin full of water. Call out a color and have your child race to grab and pull out ONLY those color balls. Keep playing until all balls are out of the water.

So, what do you think? Would your littles like these ideas? Give one, or them all of them a try and let us know what you think!
