LITERACY: TURKEY SAY & DECORATE!
Draw or create a turkey head on a paper plate. Label the paper plate with letters. You can do random upper or lowercase letters, CVC words, sight words, name letters, etc. Give your child dot markers or crayons and have them say each letter then dot it to create their turkey feathers!
MATH: TURKEY SHAPE MATCH & COUNT
Looking for a simple setup 2 in 1 preschool math idea? Give this turkey activity a try!
Cut small simple 2D shapes out of brown paper (circle, triangle rectangle). Create a turkey face on each and label each with a number or addition fact. On a blank sheet of paper draw the same shapes. Have your child pick a brown turkey shape, match and glue it to a shape on their sheet of paper. Then ask them to identify the number to draw and add that many feathers to their shape turkey.
GROSS MOTOR: TURKEY FEATHER WALK
Create and cut out a simple turkey head on craft paper. Cut out multiple feathers and label each with a gross motor movement (walk, hop, crawl, etc.). Place a masking tape line down on the ground and set the turkey head at one end. Give your child the feathers and have them pick a feather to add to their turkey by doing each movement along the line.
ART: FEATHER PAINTING
Roll out a large sheet of art roll paper. Set out trays of colored paint and feathers. Invite your littles to paint with feathers!
CRAFT: HANDPRINT TURKEY CARDS
Cut and fold simple square cards. For each card paint your child’s hand all brown and make an upside down handprint on the front. Add a googly eye, orange beak, snood, and two feet. Let dry, then have your child decorate and fill each card with messages for friends and family.
SNACK: FINE MOTOR TURKEY MUFFINS
Grab or make your favorite fall muffins! Stick 4-5 toothpicks out of the top of the muffin. Give your child Froot Loops and have them thread the cereal onto the toothpicks. Add two candy eyes and a cereal beak. ENJOY!
