I scream, You scream, We all scream for ICE CREAM! An ice cream play dough tray that is!
This week I put together one of our favorite themed play dough trays and that is an ice cream tray! Have you ever made one?

Play dough trays are my go-to activity when I’m thinking easy prep with lots of open-ended engagement. Seriously, a tray full of supplies always keeps my girls engaged and BUSY! I have so much fun watching them create and listening to what they chat about as they do it.

- Tray (our favorite are these round trays from Dollar Tree)
- Play Dough (here’s our go-to recipe)
- Pompoms
- Bowls (the ones pictured here I found at Hobby Lobby)
- Cut Straws
- Plastic Spoons
- Pony Beads
- Scoops

Take all your supplies and set them on a tray. That’s it!
Now that you have your tray ready to go it’s time to sit back, grab that cup of coffee, and watch the play unfold.
Adding a theme to your tray makes it easier to prep and gives direction without strict rules. We want our littles to get creative, engage in pretend play, and we want them to have fun!

My girls decided to set up a pretend play ice cream shop. They brought out some paper, took orders, then whipped up ice cream bowls for their pretend customers. They served their tasty creations and even cleaned up afterward. They had SO MUCH FUN!
Trays like this are great for building creativity, working on lots of fine motor skills, and awesome for practicing communication and social skills! This ice cream themed tray is definitely a must-do for SUMMER!
