LITERACY: SAY AND SPRAY

summer kids activities

You can’t go wrong with a spray bottle activity in summer! For this one, write letters on cement with chalk. Then, fill a spray bottle with water and have your child name each letter and spray it! Switch it up by having someone say aloud a letter name and having your child hunt to find it then spray it.

MATH: PAINT A SHAPE

summer themed activities

This activity can be done anytime, but it is SO FUN that it makes for the perfect simple summer idea! Draw various 2D shapes in different colors on a sheet of paper. Set out some water color paints and have your child name each shape and paint it the same color. EASY!

GROSS MOTOR: BEACH BALL TOSS

summer gross motor activity

This activity requires two people. Grab a large towel and have each person grab and hold an end. Place a beach ball in the center of the towel and ask them to work together to toss and catch the ball. How many times can they toss and catch the ball?

SENSORY BIN: POURING STATION

Look in your kitchen for various sized bowls, cups, and recycled containers. Set them all in a large bin and fill a few with water. Add color to the water by adding a drop or two of food dye to each filled container. Invite your child to fill and pour.

CRAFT: TORN PAPER WATERMELON

summer kids craft

Use a red and green marker to draw an outline of a watermelon slice on a sheet of paper. Give your child red, green, and black construction paper. Have them tear the paper and collage it onto the sketch to create a watermelon!

PRETEND PLAY: DAY AT THE BEACH

Grab towels, pool noodles, an umbrella, beach toys, and fill a large bin with water. Play pretend day at the beach! Add some books for beach reading and how about packing a picnic lunch too?!
