LITERACY: DOG BONE d & b LETTER RECOGNITION
For this learning activity all you’ll need are some markers and a sheet of paper. Sketch an outline of a dog bone on a blank sheet of paper. Write lowercase b and lowercase d letters on it several times. Add a key such as b=blue and d=orange. Ask your child to recognize each letter as b or d and have them color each by code to show understanding.
MATH: KITTY CAT WHISKERS
Sketch a simple outline of a cat face on a blank sheet of paper – leave off the whiskers. Cut a few pipe cleaners in half and set them next to your cat picture with a dice. Ask your child to roll the dice and add that many whiskers to their cat.
FINE MOTOR: BIRD PLAY DOUGH TRAY
Create a bird play dough invitation! Set out a tray of supplies such as googly eyes, feathers, pipe cleaners, and Play-Doh. Invite your child to make a BIRD! Have fun chatting about pet birds and how to take care of them.

SCIENCE FLOATING FISH
Have you tried the floating dry erase picture experiment? If not, here is your chance!
Use a dry erase marker (EXPO brand works best) to draw fish on the bottom of a glass dish. *Make sure to fill in the fish so everything connects.* Let the picture dry, then slowly pour water into the dish (not directly on the picture and just enough to cover it). Watch and wait as your picture lifts and floats. SO COOL!

CRAFT: PAPER PLATE SNAKE
Grab a paper plate and draw a spiral on it from the outside to the center. Give your child markers (or other craft supplies) and let them decorate their paper plate. Cut along the spiral line to the center of the plate. Create a head shape in the center. Add googly eyes and a red snake tongue to the center head.
PET ANIMAL MOVEMENT STICKS
How about making your very own movement sticks?! Think about and label craft sticks with animal movement phrases. Stick the sticks in a cup, then have your child pick and do the movement.
“Fly like a Bird”
“Hop like a bunny”
“Stretch like a Cat”
