LITERACY: FIND THE GOLD

Start by cutting out multiple rainbow colored squares of paper. On each paper square write a letter. Then, lay the letter squares on a flat surface or stick them in a pocket chart. Hide 3-5 gold coins behind the letter squares. If you don’t have fake gold coins just cut circles out of yellow paper. Have your child guess which letters the gold is behind by saying each letter name and sound they guess.
This game is super easy to setup and you can easily switch the skill you’re working on. For example instead of letters you could write sight words, CVC words, blends, numbers, shapes, etc. Also this game is easily adaptable to fit any theme! Definitely a MUST TRY!
MATH: GOLD COIN MEASUREMENT

Roll 3-5 Play-Doh snakes, make one each a different length. Set out a cup of fake gold coins. Measure the length of each Play-Doh snake by placing the coins end to end. Discuss which snake is longest and which is shortest.
SCIENCE: JELLYBEAN RAINBOW

Place jellybeans in a circle on a plate in rainbow order. Pour warm water into the center of the plate and keep pouring until the water is under the jellybeans. WAIT and watch! What do you see? Why do you think this happened? Your child should notice that the colors begin to dissolve creating a neat rainbow effect.
CRAFT: TORN PAPER SHAMROCK

Sketch an outline of a shamrock on a blank sheet of paper. Use both hands to tear a green sheet of construction paper into small pieces. Collage and glue the pieces to the inside of the Shamrock until completely full.
SENSORY: ST. PATRICK’S DAY LEMONADE BIN

Set up a St. Patrickās Day lemonade water bin! Fill a bin with water. Add in a few drops of green food dye, toss in some fake gold coins, and set it out with some sliced lemons. Add a plastic pitcher, cups, spoons, lemon squeezer, fake ice cubes, etc. PLAY!
SORTING: FROOT LOOP COLOR SORT

Cut six 1-inch strips of paper (you want one for each color of the rainbow). Set the strips on a tray in rainbow order and set a bowl of Froot Loops next to them. Pick and sort by color. When finished, count up how many of each color you sorted.
