LITERACY: Build Your Name
The most important word to a preschooler is their NAME! Have fun introducing them to the letters in their name and build those prewriting skills with BLOCKS!
Use painter’s tape to create your child’s name on the floor. Set out some blocks and have them create each letter from blocks. You can do their full name or one letter at a time. You can also have them drive the letters in their name with a toy car or walk/hop the tape to form each letter with their body.
MATH: OUTLINE AND MEASURE ME!
Grab a sheet of paper and trace your child’s foot and hand. Cut them out. Have them use objects (cereal, snap cubes, erasers) to measure from end to end to tell how long each is. Ask them if they can find something shorter or longer than their footprint or handprint.
SOCIAL STUDIES: MY FAMILY
Draw small circles on a sheet of paper and have your child cut them out. Invite them to draw a family member on each circle and then glue them down on a sheet of paper. Label the paper ”My Family.” Have them share who is in their family using complete sentences.
SENSORY: Play Dough Self Portraits
Grab a tray and fill it with play dough, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, buttons, popsicle sticks, and circle cookie cutters. Ask your child to create a self portrait! Have fun chatting with them as they create and review parts of their face (head, eyes, nose, ears, mouth). This is such a fun activity for an all about me theme, or anytime really!
I always find our favorite plastic serving trays ( like the one above) at the Dollar Store!

CRAFT: FIRST LETTER OF MY NAME COLLAGE
Draw and cut out the first letter of your child’s name (bubble style). Have them glue it down on a sheet of paper and then decorate it with various things from your craft cupboard (feathers, glitter, paint, pompoms, cut shapes, etc.)
GROSS MOTOR: ALL ABOUT ME SCAVENGER HUNT
Call out these statements (or make up your own) and have your child run around to find them!
- Find something in your favorite color.
- Find your favorite food.
- Find your favorite toy.
- Find something that starts with the same letter as your name.
- Find your favorite book.
