Hey friends! Today I wanted to chat a bit about measurement by sharing a fun FALL THEMED FREEBIE perfect for getting your littles to compare objects using measurement vocabulary!

In preschool children begin to compare objects and demonstrate awareness of size by comparing an object’s length, weight, or capacity. They begin to note differences and use words such as longer, shorter, bigger, and smaller to compare.

Measurement play dough mats are a FUN, hands-on way to introduce this concept while building fine motor skills. Pull out a mat, have a chat about what they are comparing, then have them build to show understanding. When they are done ask questions such as, “Which rake is longer?” Encourage them to reply by using the correct measurement vocabulary!
